Upcoming night at At 3:00 a.m. Latvian time, the Dallas Mavericks of the National Basketball Association will play the seventh game of the Western Conference semifinal against the Phoenix Dog.
The series has developed quite dramatically – after two games in Phoenix, “Mavs” came in 0-2 and most of the spectators have already written off the team. Both matches were won on their field, but they lost again in the fifth game, and it was quite convincing – 80: 110. Dallas drew conclusions and did a feat in the sixth battle, defeating his opponents with 113:86.
In the playoffs, Dallas has two strong leaders, Luke Donchic with an average of 31.1 points, 10.1 rebounds and 6.9 assists, and Jane Branson, who continues to increase his value to 22.8 points on average. 4.5 balls were scored under the baskets and 3.6 assists. Dončič has scored at least 26 points in each of the matches against the Dog, but Branson has scored at least 18 points in each of the battles he has won.
Dāvis Bertāns excelled in 12 games with an average of 4.8 points, which places him seventh in the team. The coaches’ level of confidence in Latvians is different – the shortest playing time of a basketball player in this series was seven minutes and 16 seconds, but the largest – 19 minutes and 28 seconds. The same goes for his performance – there have been matches with 12 points, but there have been no matches at all.
Since Mavs became the NBA champion in 2011, the Dallas team has never been able to beat the first round of the play-off, and the seventh match in the second round is already in progress. Unlike the same Dončič or Branson, Bertāns has also arrived to participate in the final of the conference, when in 2016/2017. The San Antonio Spurs, which he represents, raced with the Golden State Warriors.
According to Dallas Morning News journalist Brad Townsend, in the NBA’s seventh playoffs, the home team wins 76.8% and the visitors 23.2%. In the history of the league, the hosts have celebrated the victory in 109 cases, and only in 33 cases – the guests. This does not mean that the Mavericks have no chance, because during the series the team has already shown that it can get out of hopeless situations.
