Santander will allocate more than one million euros for the change to LED of the Sports Palace and the Sports Fields of El Sardinero

The Governing Council of the Santander Municipal Sports Institute (IMD) has approved in an extraordinary session allocating 915,000 euros for the execution of the Project to change the El Sardinero Sport Fields to LED lighting.

In order to carry out this action, the Santander City Council will bear the cost of executing this project, despite the fact that this facility is not part of the IMD facilities, due to the emergency of the repairs to be carried out on the lighting towers of the Sport Fields.

The current lighting presents serious deterioration of the stadium’s spotlights, so that the screens end up detaching from the casings with the consequent danger, in addition to offering insufficient lighting capacity.

Likewise, the Governing Council has also approved allocating a amount of about 140,000 euros for the change of LED lighting of the Sports Palace of Santander. This project is developed on the occasion of the celebration of the World Junior Badminton Championship, which will take place in the last quarter of the year in the Pavilion. A new parquet and new video scoreboards will also be installed, adding a total budget of around 648,200 euros.
