Saint-Félicien: Baseball later this season

There should indeed be baseball in Saint-Félicien this summer. The departure of David Boudreault, who had been in charge of baseball for several years, and the work that will be carried out this summer will not prevent young people from hitting balls later this season.

At least that’s what the director of recreation at the City of Saint-Félicien, Maxime -Fortin, suggests.

“We are currently waiting to see when exactly the work will end in order to plan registrations. However, we do not yet have a date for the moment, ”he mentions.

Remember that this work, which began last year with the change of lighting and the purchase of a fence, is intended to restore the land to good condition.

This summer, the field drainage system will be improved, the fence will be redone and the ground will be changed so that the players can play on a better quality of ground.

“We often had comments that, for example, the diamond was too hard and there were often false jumps. We are changing the soil this year to improve the situation. »

Next year, the City will renovate the shelters and finish the work on the land.

“At the end of 2023, we should have invested more than $200,000 to upgrade our ball diamond. »

Also, the baseball club will now be managed by a new person. Martin Donaldson will take over from David Boudreault.

“David has decided to leave the club this year and the City has handed over the reins to Martin Donaldson. We are currently supporting him in taking charge of the club in order to continue to offer baseball to the young people of -Saint-Félicien. »
