Quake at FC Augsburg – Boss Hofmann resigns! What will become of Weinzierl? – Bundesliga

FC Augsburg managed to stay up, but now the club is shaking like after a relegation!

President Klaus Hofmann (54) resigns from all offices!

The millionaire said in a statement: “For some time now I have been suffering from increasing health problems due to the double burden of FCA and my company. From my point of view, this also means that I can no longer deal with both topics with the usual and necessary care.”

And further: “After successfully staying up in the league, it was with a heavy heart that I decided to give up my positions as President of the eV and as Managing Director of the KGaA and to concentrate on my company. Health is definitely the most important thing in life.”

However, there are whispers around FCA that Hofmann was actually pressured to resign because there were said to have been serious differences with him within the club’s management.

The owner of a fire protection company comes from the fan scene, joined the club in 2012 with a million-dollar donation for the youth academy and was appointed to the board in 2014.

But not only in the management floor is unrest. Even coach Markus Weinzierl (47) does not know if he will stay.

His contract is now up and he says: “There have been no talks with the club so far. When he then approaches me, I have to think about whether that’s still the right thing for me.”

Manager Stefan Reuter (contract until 2023) and Managing Director Michael Ströll remain as contacts for Weinzierl.

The coach says, also with a view to his team’s prospects in the Bundesliga: “You have to put everything to the test, question every position and be clear about what the next steps are.”

Steps without Hofmann. But with Weinzierl?
