Golden State Warriors-Boston Celtics: now it’s your turn, the story is up for grabs.

Warriors and Celtics: all roads lead … to the Finals

If there is anyone who has bet a single penny on the Boston Celtics, well, come forward. It was October 2021 when the Massachusetts franchise sailed in the bad waters of the Eastern Conference with a thrilling record: 18 wins and 21 defeats. In January, however, the season in Boston took place: coach Ime Udoka compacted the environment and the group and the Celtics changed pace. The regular season ends with a sensational record of 51-31 and an unexpected second place in the East, behind Miami. Hence the triumphal ride to the playoffs: sweep with the Brooklyn Nets in the first round, thrilling 4-3 in the quarter-finals against the reigning champions Bucks and apotheosis in Miami, in game-7, against the Heat of the scarecrow Jimmy Butler. The seasonal path of the other finalist, Golden State, is less difficult. Coach Steve Kerr’s Warriors, third in the West with a record of 53-29, literally “strolled” in the post-season: 4-1 in the first round at the Nuggets, 4-2 at the Grizzlies in the quarter-finals and 4- 1 in the semifinals with the Mavericks who have not been able to do much against the overwhelming power of Steph Curry and Kyle Thompson.

Nba Finals: the story tells Boston

To date, there is only one precedent between the two franchises in the Finals. It was 1964 and the Celtics of coach Red Auerbach gave a sound lesson to the then San Francisco Warriors: he finished with a resounding 4-1 in favor of the Celtics who won, with the legend William ‘Bill’ Russell on the field, their seventh title. . Fifty-eight years later, history repeats itself and is played once again for the ring: the Celtics seek their 18th title to beat the Lakers and thus become the most successful team in America. Golden State is looking for the fourth ring in eight seasons (last triumph in 2018, 4-0 in the final at the Cavs of LeBron James). In the last regular season, however, the balance between the two finalists is in perfect equality: on December 18, 2021, the Warriors conquer the TD Garden in Boston for 111-107: Steph Curry the star of the evening with 30 points on the scoresheet. Boston rematch on March 17, 2022 with double double by Jayson Tatum (26 points and 12 rebounds) and Celtics winning 110-88 in San Francisco.

Nba Finals, Curry-Tatum duel: a match worth a season

12 years after the last NBA Finals played (in 2010, a 4-3 defeat with the Lakers), the Boston Celtics are clinging to the sensational season played by their brightest star, Jayson Tatum. The Celtics winger dragged his team into the decisive game-7 in Miami which was worth the arrival at the final appointment. Considered one of the best players of his generation, Tatum is an absolute level profile, a 1998 class that has all the potential to emulate the exploits of two legends: Paul PierceMvp of the 2008 Finals in the Boston jersey, and the legend Kobe Bryant. Tatum also won the new award established by the NBA as the best player of the Conference finals (in the East the title is dedicated to his majesty Larry Bird). Same recognition for Stephen Curry: the MVp of the Western Conference finals (award dedicated to another basketball legend, Magic Johnson) is a total player. A war machine in its sixth Finals appearance in eight seasons. You don’t need many introductions for Curry, for him a few numbers are enough to certify the player’s greatness: last December 14, in Indianapolis against the Pacers, he became the player with the most triple scored in NBA history, beating the record of 2973 shots from the bow belonging to Ray Allen. Two weeks later, on December 28, he becomes the first and only player in NBA history to overcome the 3,000 shots scored by three in a career match against the Nuggets.

Celtics-Warriors: the “X-factors” of the Finals

A final, the one between Boston and Golden State, which promises to be spectacular: the underdogs all hang on the side of Golden State, led by a coach, Steve Kerrexpert in triumphs both on the field and on the bench: protagonist of the second three-peat with the Bulls of Michael Jordan, Toni Kukoc, Scottie Pippen e Dennis Rodman and of the two successes of the San Antonio Spurs in 1999 and 2003, the former Chicago guard got a taste for us even with the slate in his hand: with the Warriors he in fact won on three occasions: 2015, 2016 and 2018. With a Klay Thompson fully recovered (returned to the field in January after the cruciate ligament injury of the left knee in June 2019 and the injury to the right Achilles tendon in November 2020), with the physicality of Draymond Green and with the athletic freshness of Jordan Poole, Golden State can dream big again. But beware of the ‘bad boys’ of Boston: in addition to Tatum, the Celtics count among their ranks top-level profiles such as Marcus Smart, the backbone of the franchise and one of the best defenders in the league and the center Robert Williams III, one of the most interesting players in his role on both sides of the pitch. Warriors therefore favorites for their greater habit of winning but the Celtics’ desire for revenge can create many problems for Steve Kerr and him.
