Deportivo Orpineda and Monster Wings, have pending who will be the champion of the men’s free category “A” of the current tournament 2022 of the Municipal Basketball Committee, being tied at 1 won by side, within the action of the grand final, in series agreed upon of 3 matches to overcome 2, and that have the stage of the Auditorium Gymnasium.
It should be noted that these two teams are the best of the entire season in the regular phase, as well as in finals and to show a button that they are equal in the final series, which will have its outcome on Wednesday, with the completion of the third and final meeting, where the new champion of the highest category of local basketball will be known.
The first commitment that gave the green light to this final clash, favored Deportivo Orpineda 71 points to 63, in extra time, after finishing the normal times tied 57-57, to take the lead in the series 1-0, which is agreed from three games to winning two.
The first quarter favored Deportivo Orpineda 20 points to 13, the second went to Monster Wings 18-11, to go to halftime with the score 31-31; the third period was for the losers 16-15 and the last half favored the winners 11-10, to finish tied at 57 units and having to define the winner in extra time.
Already in extra time, Deportivo Orpineda’s offense was better and they scored 14 points to 6 and won the final victory with a final figure of 71 units to 63; in the duel the best scorer for the winners was Jonathan Gutiérrez with 25 points, since, for the losers, Luis Caldera scored 24 points.
The second match of the final, favored Monster Wings with a score of 63 points to 50, the first quarter was for the winners 12-10; the second also 18-0, to go to rest in their favor 20-10.
For the third half, the result ended 17-15 in favor of Monster Wings and the last one was taken by Deportivo Orpineda 27-16, to leave the final scoreboard 63 units for 50, in the duel for the winners, Luis Caldera helped with 20 points and for the losers, Jonathan Gutiérrez scored 19.
NOTE: The series is tied to one duel per side and on Wednesday, June 1, the third meeting will be held to meet the new champion in this 2022.
