Luca Van Assche Withdraws from Masters 1000 in Rome due to Injury Concerns

On his X account, Luca Van Assche announced his withdrawal for the Masters 1000 in Rome, scheduled for May 6 to 19.

After his retirement in Barcelona and his second round in Madrid, Luca Van Assche will not play at the Masters 1000 in Rome next week. The person announced the news on X this Thursday early evening. “Unfortunately injured, I will not be able to play in Rome as planned next week. I’m going to stay in Paris for a few days while I take care of myself. I hope to be able to play again very soon, I will keep you informed”, he wrote on his personal account, without specifying whether his loss was linked to an injury.

He should indeed play, in three weeks, Porte d’Auteuil, for the 2024 edition of Roland-Garros. His preparation on clay was not ideal. The 19-year-old world number 99 won only two matches on clay during the first rounds of the ATP 500 in Barcelona and the Masters 1000 in Madrid.
