Latvia and Finland have presented their application for the 2023 World Cup / Day to the IIHF Congress

The application submitted jointly by Latvia and Finland is the only offer officially approved by the IIHF to host the 2023 World Championships.

The application of Riga and Tampere was presented today by Harri Nummela, President of the World Cup Organizing Committee of 2022, Aigars Kalvītis, President of the Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF) and Heiki Hietanens and Viesturs Koziols, members of the IIHF Council.

The participants of the IIHF Congress will vote on the joint application of Latvia and Finland on Friday, May 27.

If Riga and Tampere get the right to host the world championship, then the 2023 world championships will take place in “Arena Riga” and “Nokia Arena”.

Hungary and Slovenia had also initially applied for the 2023 World Cup, but then formally withdrew.
