Judo – FC Hohenthann eV

Judo is a Japanese martial art whose principle is “victory by yielding” or “maximum effect with minimum effort”. This martial art was developed by Kanō Jigorō (1860-1938). Today, judo is practiced in over 150 countries, making it the most widespread martial art in the world.

The judo department of the FCH already trains children from the age of five, whereby the playful transition to judo-specific forms is fluid. Because of its many facets, judo can be actively practiced into old age. At the FCH, for example, there is a training group for adults who are young at heart, who primarily train on technique and thus want to maintain their physical fitness.

Today’s judo is dominated by the competition techniques of recent years and shapes the technique training accordingly, which is taught by eight trained trainers. Due to the Corona regulations, the individual groups are currently limited to 12 judokas. The new DOJO in Unkofen makes it possible for all boys and girls to find their place. Training takes place 5 days a week.

Judo is not only a way of physical training, but also a philosophy for personality development. In this sense, a judoka also practices judo when he is not in the training hall. Two philosophical principles essentially underlie judo: mutual help and understanding for mutual progress and well-being, and the best possible use of body and mind. The aim is to carry these principles as an attitude and to consciously express them in every movement on the judo mat. In everyday life, this knowledge and behavior also strengthens one’s own personality.
