EM 2024: Uefa announced – final in Berlin! – Football

Now it is official!

The final of the EM 2024 takes place on July 14th in the Berlin Olympic Stadium. This was decided by the UEFA Executive Committee on Tuesday in Vienna!

The opening game of the European Championship, which takes place in ten German cities, will be played in Munich a month before (June 14).

Most matches (six each) are played in Berlin, Dortmund and Munich, five games are hosted by Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Cologne and Stuttgart. There will be four meetings each in Gelsenkirchen and Leipzig.

For reasons of sustainability, the venues were also divided into three groups. The north/northeast zone includes Berlin, Hamburg and Leipzig. The west Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Gelsenkirchen and the south Cologne as well as Frankfurt, Munich and Stuttgart. In each EM group there are only games in two zones to reduce travel distances.

As the hosts, the DFB team has already qualified for the finals, with the draw taking place in Frankfurt next October.

The final draw will then take place in December 2023 in the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.

The DFB was awarded the tournament in September 2018. At the 2006 World Cup in Germany, the Munich Arena, which was newly built at the time, was awarded the contract for the start, and the final also took place in the Berlin Olympic Stadium.
