As we have known for some time, the Lakers want to strike hard on the market with the possible recruitment of a star. But the negotiations will not be simple, like this latest update.
After new failures in the playoffs, Rob Pelinka wants to use the assets at his disposal to try to attract a third star to the City of Angels. He has three first round draft picks as well as several players, like Austin Reaves for example. Enough to get an interesting player, but perhaps not enough to hope to create a Big 3 in Los Angeles for this summer.
The market remains complex and the stars available are few in number. Trae Young has long been a target, but his price risks cooling a lot of teams, with the Hawks relatively greedy for this summer. So the Lakers have set their sights on Donovan Mitchell according to several sources. But this file remains very complicated and in particular because of the owner.
End of the rumor between Cleveland and Los Angeles?
According to journalist Sam Amico, Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert wants to be more involved in Cleveland’s decisions for this summer. The goal ? Ensuring that the job is done, he who surely wants a more competitive roster in order to play for the title. The bad news in all this is that Gilbert would not be a great player for the Purple and Gold.

For example, a source told Hoops Wire that the Cavaliers will request Tyler Herro and Jaime Jaquez Jr from the Heat in discussions for Mitchell, if things come to that. »
Not sure that the Lakers have the necessary assets if we rely on the conditions set by the Cavaliers for Mitchell moreover. The franchise can make an interesting offer, but other teams could easily do better. A very bad omen for the summer.
The Lakers are interested in Donovan Mitchell, but it seems that the Cavaliers do not really want to discuss with them. It will be a long summer for the Angelinos, with Rob Pelinka under more pressure than ever.
