Danish badminton men have played in the World Cup semi-finals after drama

Antonsen lost in two sets, and thus Denmark, just like against China, was behind 1-2 ahead of the fourth match.

The Danes who were to try to save the chestnuts from the fire were the doubles Anders Skaarup Rasmussen and Frederik Søgaard.

The two delivered a bang of a match against China, and there was therefore hope that they could once again deliver the goods against Choi Solgyu and Kim Wonho.

While the men’s doubles showed good synergy and at several moments looked like winners of the first set, the South Koreans ended up taking it 21-18.

The second set could thus risk being Denmark’s last in the tournament, but in a series of nerve-wracking balls, the Danes miraculously ended up winning the second set 23-21 after averting three Korean match balls.

In the third set, the double had really played hot, and with the figures 21-17 in Danish favor, Denmark had to play a fifth, decisive match at the position 2-2.

It was Rasmus Gemke who had to handle the fateful task against Yun Gyu Lee. Despite signs of nervousness, the Dane managed to pull home a narrow victory in the first set of 21-19.

At the same time, the set victory gave Gemke some peace ahead of the second set, which was won in a more superior way with 21-15 to great cheers from teammates and Danish fans.

On Friday, Denmark will play the semifinals in the Thomas Cup.
