A far-right flag displayed by Reims supporters in Lorient, the LFP opens a procedure

The handful of Rémois supporters who made the trip to Moustoir this Sunday during the victory at Lorient (2-1) displayed a flag relating to the far right during the first period before it was removed at the break.

Several images posted on social networks showed a tricolor crossed out with a Celtic cross in the Reims parking lot. It is a symbol of the radical far right and more particularly of the GUD (union defense group), a French student movement which defended a nationalist ideology until its disappearance in the 2000s.

According to RMC Sport, the LFP Disciplinary Committee, which was alerted by the delegate of the meeting, will thus open disciplinary proceedings against the Stade de Reims. The file will be placed under investigation for a fortnight and any sanctions will be communicated in the coming weeks.

The League of Human Rights is indignant

Lorient supporters who saw the flag in the visitor parking lot contacted the League of Human Rights of the country of Lorient after the match. Its president, Alain Le Dem, sent a press release to the presidents of the two clubs to denounce the facts. “The GUD is a far-right student organization, which is regularly reborn under other acronyms, but whose racist and xenophobic discourse and acts are sufficiently constant and known to the press, but also to the courts, to be denounced.. In this case, they have no place in the public space, and a fortiori in a football stadium, a sport that wants to be exemplary in this respect.he regretted in his missive.
