440,278 athletes will participate in the 2022 National Intercollegiate Games

The National Intercollegiate Games program of the Ministry of Sport met the registration goal for the 2022 term, with 440,278 athletes, the highest number of participation in the last two years.

In addition, a total of 15,151 teachers (coaches) and 9,450 educational institutions and organizations that serve people with disabilities in the country signed up for this edition, designed for children and young people in school to enjoy and learn through sport.

Antioquia, Valle del Cauca, and Cundinamarca were the departments with the highest enrollment, with 50,967, 48,100, and 37,489 students, respectively. In addition, indoor soccer, soccer, indoor soccer and school festivals, in that order, were the sports that registered the highest number of registrations.
It should be noted that for this period 29 sports and three for sports will be enabled. In the group games there will be basketball, handball, soccer, indoor soccer, indoor soccer, volleyball, baseball, cheerleading, rugby, softball, mini basketball, mini indoor soccer, mini volleyball and a school festival.

In individual sports are underwater activities, integrated chess, athletics, boxing, cycling, fencing, gymnastics, judo, karate do, weightlifting, badminton, wrestling, swimming, skating, taekwondo, shuffleboard, field tennis, table tennis and triathlon. Those for sports will be three: boccia, for athletics and for swimming.

The municipal and departmental phases will go until August 28. Then will come the national regional phase, from September 12 to October 2, and finally, the national final, which will take place from November 1 to 20 of the same month.
This year, the national Intercollegiate champions will be able to participate in the South American School Games, which will take place from December 1 to 15 of this year, in Brasilia, Brazil.
