400m world record for Australian Ariarne Titmus

The Australian improved by six hundredths of a second the old reference time in the hands of Katie Ledecky.

Australian swimmer Ariarne Titmus, Olympic champion in the 200m and 400m in Tokyo, improved American Katie Ledecky’s 400m freestyle world record by six hundredths of a second on Sunday in Adelaide at the Australian Championships.

Two days after approaching 33/100th of Italian Federica Pellegrini’s 200m world record, Ariarne Titmus (21) swam the 400m on Sunday in 3 min 56 sec 40/100th, erasing the previous best Katie Ledecky’s mark (3:56.46), set at the Rio Games in 2016.

«I never thought I would do this, be able to swim faster than the Olympic trials and the Olympics“commented the swimmer after her race.

Titmus improved by almost 3/10ths of a second (3:56.69) on her personal best she set in Tokyo waters in the 400m final, the end of a sumptuous and breathless explanation to the end with Katie Ledecky .
