Tennis has been popular for a long time in gaming, but the scene seems to have died down for a while now. However, according to one well-informed person, the Top Spin franchise is preparing its return.
Top Spin 5 in preparation?
This is news, or rather a rumor, which should appeal to all virtual tennis fans. Nick Baker, the head of XboxEra and the eponymous podcast in addition to being a well-known insider in the field, revealed in the last show that Top Spin 5 would be in development… at Hangar13. As a reminder, these are the developers of Mafia III and Mafia Definitive Edition and if it seems surprising to see them developing a tennis game, there is however an explanation: the studio has just absorbed 2K Czech, the team behind the previous Top Spin.
It’s been eleven years since Top Spin 4 was released and since then 2K Games has never set foot on the court again., much to the chagrin of an entire community. The Top Spins had the reputation of being benchmarks in this field.
Towards a revelation in 2023?
According to what he heard, Nick Baker suggests that an announcement could take place in 2023. However, it should be noted that he does not take everything at face value: Baker himself asked to take tweezers.
