Women’s badminton Se-young Ahn advances to the round of 16 at the Korea Open… first win hope

Ahn Se-young (Samsung Life Insurance), the ace of Korean women’s badminton, advanced to the round of 16 of the Korea Open Badminton Championship (Korea Open) held for the first time in three years.

Ahn Se-young defeated India’s Sri Krishna Priya Kudarabal 2-0 (21-5 21-13) in the women’s singles round of 32 at the 2022 Korea Open held at Palma Gymnasium in Suncheon, South Jeolla Province on the 6th.

Ahn Se-young, who took runner-up at the All-Young Open last month, showed off her superior skills against India’s newcomer Kudarabal, winning the first set by 16 points.

Ahn Se-young succeeded in advancing to the round of 16 at the Korea Open for the first time as an individual by defeating Kudarabal by running the 2nd set with plenty of time.

Ahn Se-young was eliminated from the round of 32 in the 2019 tournament where she first appeared, but is considered the strongest candidate for the women’s singles championship this time in three years.

World No. 1 Tai Ziying (Taiwan) and 2nd placed Akane Yamaguchi (Japan) did not participate in this tournament, so the world 4th placed Se-young Ahn has a higher chance of winning than ever.

If it exceeds the world’s third-placed Chen Yupei (China), which is expected to meet in the final, it will win the first championship.

On the afternoon of the 7th, Ahn Se-young will face the world’s 16th female Min (Singapore) in the round of 16.

Ahn Se-young has 3 wins and 1 loss ahead of Yeo Min in the opponent’s record.

Meanwhile, on the second day of the round of 32 match held on the same day, veteran Son Wan-ho (Miryang City Hall) from the national team advanced to the men’s singles round of 16.

Men’s doubles Kang Min-hyeok (Samsung Life Insurance)-Seo Seung-jae (Army Sports Corps) and Kim Tae-kwan-Lee Sang-min (Lee Sang-Yonex) also joined the round of 16.
