Pat Beverly gave it all up as the NBA star’s emotions became the talking point of Minnesota’s dramatic play-in win over the LA Clippers.
For Minnesota Timberwolves point guard Patrick Beverly, winning Wednesday’s NBA play-in tournament against the Clippers was personal.
That New York Post Before taking on the Memphis Grizzlies last August, Beverly, who spent four years with Los Angeles, wept over a late turnover for a 109-104 win that earned the T-Wolves a playoff ticket.
It’s Minnesota’s first playoff appearance since 2018.

Immediately following the win, the Beverly Clippers climbed onto the scorer’s table next to the bench and began celebrating, shouting to the crowd around the house while looking out over LA. He then threw his jersey into the crowd and ran around the square.
“Take her home,” Beverly said of what she shared with her former teammates during the celebration.
“Long flight to LA. Take one of them home. For me it is deeper than that. I have given my blood and sweat to this organization. You know the story.”
The point guard, who has become one of Minnesota’s most impressive players in his freshman year with the team, hugs his mother Lisa on the court. His leap into the scoring charts was similar to that of T-Wolves legend Kevin Garnett after they led them to the 2004 Western Conference Finals.
The celebrations continued in the dressing room, where Beverly – who the Timberwolves expanded in February – kicked out his former team.
“Weak is a ** clipper. Hit her with motherhood,” Beverly said on Instagram Live.
At the post-game press conference, Beverly got emotional and explained at length what the win meant to him.
“Blood, sweat and tears, just write: ‘He’s prone to injury. He is old. ‘ This, this, that, that. Come here to play her in a play-in and beat her by a**, no other feeling man. There’s no other feeling,” Beverly said.
“Man, I wanted it too bad. It’s just the icing on the cake, cherries on top. Play-in, be able to beat them… scratch off another goal. I told you we were going to the playoffs. They all look at me like I was crazy the first time I said that. I have told you everything. “
After the game, Beverly tweeted “I told you so” with a bunch of wolf and heart emojis. “We’re celebrating because Minnesota deserves it. Lots of trouble over the last few years. Happy for us,” he added in a separate tweet.
Clipper forward Paul wasn’t a fan of George Beverly’s “hatred,” which he addressed at his post-game press conference.
“They have guys who are a little bit more confident. His strengths and personality influenced this list,” said George, who scored 34 points for Los Angeles.
“We just noticed that at the time. I didn’t let Pat do his antics and didn’t try to disappoint him. I knew it was all for show. It’s for the crowd. saturates the crowd. I love it. I love it. I missed it. He did it for us because it’s contagious. I think when he’s in that mode it ignites the team and lights up the field. You need that power.”
Though Beverly was on a mission to piss off his former team.
“I told you, Ant,” he told Anthony Edwards, who was selected in the first round of Minnesota 2020 and dropped 30 points to win. “You didn’t believe me. We’re going to the playoffs, baby. They looked at me like crazy. They said, ‘Pat, you’re crazy!’
Minnesota will play second-place Grizzlies in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series on Saturday, where the Clippers will now play eighth-place play-in game winner Spurs-Pelicans on Wednesday.
