The Medipolis SC Jena basketball team won the last main round game of the Pro A in Vechta with 88:83. The next opponent has not yet been determined.

In the last main round game of the Jena basketball team at Rasta Vechta, both teams were only concerned with the “Golden Pineapple”. Third place for Thuringia is set in stone. MSC coach Domenik Reinboth rested four key players for the play-offs that begin next week. In the end, the Medipolis squad, which was still quite convincing, had a tailwind with a 88:83 (48:49) victory.

Without Thomas, Simmons, Herrera and Wolf, who were gathering strength at home, the MSC started very quickly and was 11:5 ahead. Only ten Jena players were on the record this Monday evening. Former first division club Rasta Vechta had a weak season with many player transfers. To the disappointment of Lower Saxony, the play-offs were missed despite an 82-81 victory in Jena earlier in the year. The final sprint of the riders came much too late.

It was only at the end of the first quarter that Jena then let it tear down for the first time with 24:29. After that, Medipolis at least made the connection again with 37:39 in the middle of the second quarter. Coach Reinboth also gave young players like Plescher, Bank, Alberton, Radojicic, Linartas and Walter the chance to play. At half-time everything was back in order at 48:49. After a nice series of three, Jena then went in front (59:55). The guests even stormed into the last quarter with an eight-point lead of 73:65. In the finish, the balls didn’t fall so easily into the basket. However, the exciting final went to Jena with 88:83. The most successful MSC pitchers, in which five players hit double figures, were Chapman and Haukohl with 17 points each.

It is still unclear against whom Jena will have to compete in the play-offs. On Monday evening, Karlsruhe won 94:73 in Schwenningen. The Badeners still have a chance to move forward in the catch-up game in Rostock (date still open).
