is the turning point coming? Napoli convinced by one aspect

In just over two months, the contract between Dries Mertens and the Napoli will go towards the deadline. Virtually almost impossible that the blue club will exercise the unilateral option for the annual renewal, as rumored over the last few months, but there would be a willingness between the parties to find a compromise.

The priority of the Belgian striker, as publicly admitted by the same direct interested during the season, remains that of staying in blue, but a mutual effort will be needed to ensure that the marriage can continue even after 30 June.

There is the opening of De Laurentiis, the figure on the table

To take stock of the situation in this regard is today’s edition of The Corriere dello Sportaccording to which the blue club has concretely opened to the possibility of entering into negotiations for the contractual extension.

“The player absolutely does not seem to make it an economic issue”reveals the newspaper, adding that “If they also offer him 1.2 million euros or so he would have no difficulty in accepting because he wants to play in Naples”.

To convince the patron De Laurentiis to seriously reflect on the possibility of an annual renewal, it would be the technical evaluation of the number 14 which, despite the upcoming 35 years, still manages to make a difference. “The shot will no longer be what it used to be, for heaven’s sake, but the quality and fabric of Mertens are always very precious”, concludes the newspaper.

The next few weeks – the last ones foreseen by the contract currently in place – will be decisive to understand if the indissoluble bond between Ciro and the city will be crowned by a new agreement, thus also extinguishing the numerous market rumors that also bear the signature of series companies.
