Last Sunday, on the grounds of Quétigny, 10 youngsters from the Judo Club Chalonnais made the trip to rub shoulders with judokas from the Burgundy region.
All of them performed well and most came out of the group stage. Then followed the stage phase and the qualification for the Greater Region championship which will take place in June in Longvic.
Assia SAFFI, Burgundy Champion!
The only female representative, Assia SAFFI (-40kg) was able to control all her opponents and it was after her 4 fights won by Ippon that she was able to afford the title of Champion of Burgundy!
As for the boys, Alban RION (-34kg) had a very good run with a lot of technical variety which enabled him to obtain a fine Bronze medal.
Gaspard DIAZ (-38kg) and Hyacinthe ROBERT (-46kg) both finished in 5th place in their category. For his part Kenzi BOUAICHA (-30kg) finished his competition in 7th place after beating his club comrade Axel RAVENET for whom the 9th qualifying place is important.
An overall behavior that suggests good things for coach Yann DU CLOSEL, who will no doubt be able to guide training in view of the final championship in June.
