Centro and Quisqueya win in the SPM superior basketball tournament

SAN PEDRO DE MACORIS.- The teams from the Center and Correcaminos de Quisqueya dominated the opening day of the XL Superior Basketball Tournament of San Pedro de Macorís, in the matches played at the sports center of the Sports Complex.

The contest has a special dedication to the President of the Republic Luis Abinader Corona and the BanReservas Cup will be held.

The Centro club was the first to emerge victorious by beating the Mexican Warriors in the first match, 99-94, with 40 points from Romanense reinforcement Ramón Ruiz, who added 10 rebounds to complete a double-double and distributed five assists.

Ruiz was supported by Jonathan Hodge with 23 points, five rebounds and six assists, Wilson Suazo 13 and seven sacks, Jonathan de los Santos and Jean Carlos Quezada contributed nine baskets with 15 and 13 catches each.

For Mexico, the U22 reinforcement of San Cristóbal Jassel Pérez stood out with 37 points and seven rebounds, Pedro Ariel Martínez double figures of 15 points and sacks, and Ronald Mejía 14.

Diego Colón and José Familia combined 64 points to lead the Quisqueya Correcaminos 122-118 victory over Retiro 23, at the closing of the opening day of the Superior Basketball Tournament of San Pedro de Macorís, in the municipal roof.

Colón, a U22 reinforcement from Azua, scored 32 points with six assists, while the native Familia achieved double scoring merits with 32 baskets and 11 rebounds.
