The grand final of the Intercollegiate Games begins

Until May 14, Armenia, Pereira, Manizales and the municipality of Santa Rosa de Cabal (Risaralda) will host the largest school sports festival in the country: the 2021 national final of the Intercollegiate Games of the Ministry of Sports.

The 21 sports (18 conventional and three parasports) that will be in competition were distributed in the three capital cities and the Risaraldense municipality.
The finals of volleyball, athletics, para-athletics, futsal, shuffleboard and table tennis will be held in Armenia. In Manizales, judo, karate do, taekwondo, chess, soccer, basketball, weightlifting, field tennis and boccia, while Pereira will host boxing, indoor soccer, BMX cycling, road cycling, track cycling, swimming and para swimming. Skating will be based in Santa Rosa de Cabal, 40 minutes from the capital of Risaralda.

BMX cycling will be the first sport to open the competitions, in the Parque Metropolitano del Café; while on Tuesday the 26th the others will be on stage, both in the junior and junior categories.

In the national final of the Intercollegiates 2021 there will be about 4,500 people among athletes; trainers, judges, assistants, volunteers and delegates of the territorial entities of 31 departments and Bogotá DC

For the development of these sports fairs, the Ministry of Sports allocated 6 billion pesos, with which it is expected to contribute to the economic reactivation of the hotel, transport and food sectors of the Coffee Region, one of the main tourist destinations chosen by the Colombians.

This final, in addition, will be special because it has not been held, in person and with an audience on stage, for two and a half years, when the 2019 edition was held in Tunja (Boyacá), due to the circumstances that it brought with it. the Covid-19 pandemic.
