Two climate activists interrupted the Bundesliga match between Frankfurt and Freiburg for a few minutes on Sunday, attaching themselves to the goal posts with T-shirts bearing the inscription in German: “Latest Generation – Stop the Fossil Fuel Madness“. Moments after kick-off, the pair tied themselves to the posts of Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp with cable ties.
The game was interrupted for four minutes while the stewards untied the demonstrators and escorted them out of the stadium. Part of the public whistled at the two activists. A similar protest had recently taken place in England during the Premier League match between Everton and Newcastle.
