MLB on Apple TV +, there is the official date

After the announcement of the MLB coming to Apple TV +, there were doubts about when the first games of the league would begin. Now we know that the debut will take place on April 8th.

MLB Friday Night Baseball will therefore arrive on Apple TV + in a few weeks. As part of the deal, two weekly matches will be broadcast live, for a total of approximately 50 matches per season. There will also be a weekly doubleheader featuring pre- and post-match live entertainment in eight different countries.

For a limited time, Apple will allow anyone to watch Friday Night Baseball without a subscription. There were though doubts about the start of the season, as MLB players were on strike over some employment contract disputes. Now the situation has been resolved and the season will start regularly next April 8.

The first match broadcast will be the one between the New York Mets and the Washington Nationals. MLB matches on Apple TV + will be available in the United States, China, Australia, Brazil, Japan, Mexico, Puerto Rico, South Korea and the United Kingdom. More countries will be added in the coming months.

On Apple TV + will also arrive “MLB Big Inning“, A live show with highlights from all season. Viewers in the US and Canada will also be able to watch a 24/7 live stream featuring match replays, news, highlights, historic matches and more.

This is Apple’s first sports deal since launching its streaming service in 2019, but more live content may arrive in the future.
