Bundesliga: It’s about Ukraine censorship – DFL puts Russian TV under pressure – Bundesliga

German professional football sends a clear signal against Russia!

The DFL donates one million euros to the victims of the war in Ukraine! The DFL: “The sum will be made available to recognized aid organizations that are helping the Ukrainian population as a result of the Russian attack.”

Part of the money comes from the full contractual season payment from Russian rights holder Match TV. The DFL makes it clear that it currently does not want to benefit from these payments due to the Russian aggression against the peaceful Ukrainians.

The league association is intentionally not ending the cooperation for the time being, so that the company will pay and the statements of solidarity of the German clubs and fans will reach Russia. The DFL sets a rigorous condition for this: “Match TV” must show the pro-Ukrainian messages in the German stadiums – in contrast to the last match day – unedited!

The DFL announces that it will “carefully check the broadcast of Bundesliga broadcasts in this regard. Should the basic TV signal be repeatedly censored, this would result in an extraordinary termination by the DFL.

In the event that the contract is terminated or “Match TV” no longer pays for other reasons, the DFL will bear the million-dollar donation itself.

As a reaction to the invasion of Ukraine, the DFL is also changing the colors of the Bundesliga and second division logos on all their platforms on this match day. Instead of the usual red and white, the graphics will be shown in the national colors of Ukraine in TV broadcasts and on the Internet.

The German rights holders can support the campaign on their platforms. The DFL in a statement: “The corresponding graphic elements were also sent to the national media partners for use.”
