The number of athletes to be part of the French delegation for the Paris Olympic Games climbs again this Wednesday! With 20 new names, there are now 95 athletes who have validated their tickets for the competition, which will be held from July 26 to August 11.
As for other athletes already qualified, the CNOSF validated the lists of athletes selected according to their federations. This concerns the French federations of athletics, badminton, canoeing and paddle sports, wrestling and table tennis.
In athletics, four marathon runners join the ranks of the French delegation. They are Mélody Julien, the new French record holder for the event Méline Rollin, Mekdes Woldu and Manon Trapp, the latter being selected as a replacement.
On the badminton side, the delegation is taking shape with the selections of six athletes. In women’s singles, Xuefei Qi validates her ticket just like Toma Junior Popov in men’s singles. The latter will also compete with his brother Christo in men’s doubles. In women’s doubles, the Magot Lambiert-Anne Tran pair will be at the Games while Delphine Delrue will compete in mixed doubles with Thom Gicquel.
Six athletes also make up the canoe-kayak delegation. In canoeing, it is Eugénie Dorange for the women and Adrien Bart and Loïc Leonard for the men. On the kayak side, Manon Hostens and Vanina Paoletti validate their tickets for the women, as does Maxime Beaumont for the men.
Qualified since the beginning of April after an Olympic qualifying tournament in Azerbaijan, wrestler Mamadassa Sylla is part of this list. He will compete in the 667 kg category in Greco-Roman wrestling. Finally, as announced recently, the mixed doubles pair in table tennis is known. It will be made up of Alexis Lebrun, poorly prepared to compete in singles, and Jia Nan Yuan.
