Mourning in Turkey: Konyaspor professional Ahmet Calik died in a car accident.
Turkish football is in shock: professional footballer Ahmet Calik from Konyaspor died in a traffic accident on Tuesday. He was only 28 years old.
According to information from matching media reports, Calik was on his way from his hometown Ankara to Konya, around 270 kilometers away, on the morning of the day.
For reasons not yet clear, Calik got off the road near Nigde, fell into the ditch and overturned several times.
Calik was alone in his car. Security forces could only determine death. The news caused great consternation in Turkey. The eight-time international and former Galatasaray pro was popular because of his friendly nature.
In the current season, the defender of the table runner-up Konyaspor was in action 18 times and presented himself in excellent form.
