At the Italian Society Championships, the sixteen men’s and sixteen women’s teams from the companies that during the previous season achieved the best scores in the three divisions admitted for target shooting compete over a distance of twenty-five metres: Olympic Arch, Naked Arch ( i.e. the Olympic bow ‘stripped’ of viewfinder and stabilisations), Compound Bow (particularly powerful and precise technological instrument).
Con Michele Frangilli busy at the world cup in Shanghai (where the Italian team obtained fourth place), CAM, thirteenth in the initial ranking, lined up in the Olimpico Edoardo Sportiello Sghirinzetti (reigning Italian champion for the Targa Outdoor) e Francesco Pecora (reserve), for the bare bow Ambrogio Filippini and Davide Ferrari (reserve) and with the compound Vincenzo Rasulo and Alessandro Di Tommaso (reserve).
In this particular competition, two successive groups of four teams build the ranking and select the four teams that access the semi-finals. Each match sees the archers of the three specialties compete individually for four volleys each.
The CAM team topped the first round with a win, a draw and a defeat; then dominated the second with three victories over the Malin Archery Team (Casalgrande), over the Arcieri delle Alpi (Turin) and over the Arcieri della Signoria (Florence), thus gaining access to a very balanced semi-final against Kappa Kosmos Rovereto, which ended in a draw at 6-6 and decided by the sum of the scores of each individual arrow (326 to 323 in favor of the CAM).
The match against Malin, already beaten in the groups, was decided on the penultimate volley with a ’10’ from Simone Barbieri which stopped CAM’s comeback.
