Several Parisian players expressed their feelings, on Canal+, after the elimination in the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday against Dortmund (0-1 defeat).

Marquinhos (captain of PSG, after the 0-1 defeat against Dortmund ) : “What was missing? Efficiency. They scored twice, a corner and a through ball. We had to defend better. These are details. We created a lot of chances, a lot more than them in fact. We weren’t efficient, they were, they scored twice and won both matches. There are a lot of good things to come from this campaign. At the start of the season, no one believed we would get this far. We overcame a lot of obstacles. We must not throw everything away now because we are eliminated in the semi-finals. You have to remember that it’s a new project, with a new coach, a lot of changes. Today I want to think about the good things we can take into next season. The supporters were incredible, we thank them. We wanted to go all the way, to get this place in the final, at Wembley, for them too, our families who were there…

We must not throw everything into the air now, keep our calm, especially here, immediately after the elimination. It’s hard, it’s very hard. We could do it, there was room. But we lacked efficiency. (…) It’s hard to get this far, we know it, we know this competition. Both teams grew a lot during the season. We were close. It’s very hard to get to the semi-finals, and even harder to get to the final. We were close, we wanted (to go to the final). But there you have it, we had to win this evening, to be more efficient, we weren’t.”

We gave everything.

Vitinha

Vitinha (PSG midfielder) : “It’s not easy to talk now, to analyze the match… We come out with the feeling that we gave everything. There’s not much to say other than thank the fans, who were incredible throughout the match. We gave everything. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough… Disappointment prevails, but it’s the start of a project.”

Fabian Ruiz (PSG midfielder) : “They took advantage of their opportunities, they were more efficient on the way out and back. We had chances in both matches, several posts, saves from the goalkeeper… We left everything on the pitch, the supporters were incredible until the last second. The prevailing feeling? Sadness… We gave everything. We had a lot of dreams in this competition. We had chances. The ball didn’t want to go in. We’re sad, we hate it, but it’s football. Sometimes it’s not enough to create chances and give it your all. We must continue.”
