Soccer star collapses in game with heart attack – soccer

Great concern for Ousmane Coulibaly. The 32-year-old professional footballer suffered a heart attack during a league match at his club Al-Wakrah SC on Saturday and needed emergency medical care.

The center-back was playing against Al-Rayyan when he collapsed just before half-time. An ambulance drove into the square. Coulibaly was treated by an emergency doctor and driven to the hospital.

As the Stars League of Qatar has announced in the meantime, he is in “medical care”. So far there is no further information about his condition.

Coulibaly has been playing in Qatar since 2019, having previously played in France and Greece. The defender played 26 team games for his home country Mali. For the current Africa Cup, however, it was not taken into account.

In the previous year, several emergencies in professional sport caused a stir. The Dane Christian Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest at the EURO. He is now working on his comeback with an implanted ICD defibrillator. In Austria, such a device caused a game to be aborted when the game was played by Blau-Weiß-Linz Raphael Dwamena triggered several shocks, the kicker collapsed next to the playing field. The Slovak ice hockey club Bratislava Capitals withdrew from the ICE league in the fall after players Boris Sadecky collapsed on the ice, died a few days later in the hospital in Dornbirn.
