The Rise of Bradley Barcola: Overcoming Criticism and Making a Name for Himself

This season, the young Bradley Barcola confirmed all his talent. After asking to leave OL for PSG, the young 21-year-old striker has gained momentum to the point of becoming an important element in Luis Enrique’s training. Author of a good season (5 goals, 9 assists), he even managed to find a place in the French team since he will play the Euro with Didier Deschamps. But nevertheless, his year was not easy and he did not escape criticism, notably from a certain Daniel Riolo. The RMC journalist did not hesitate to quickly castigate the former Lyonnais. “The person responsible is not him, it is Luis Enrique because he thinks that he is a player who is capable of playing in the Champions League whereas all you had to do was open your eyes in the league to see that it’s a little lamb. A little lamb that can’t even get out of the farm pen. (…) He is at Youth League level» he confided after the first leg against Barcelona in C1.

Very strong words and not really very relevant which had the merit of making Barcola react this Thursday. In an interview with France 3, the Parisian striker explained his way of handling criticism. “It can only make you grow when someone comes across you like that. It only encourages you to give your all. Show that you are not a lamb as I have heard and to show that you are better than that, that you are a good player and that you know what you do and want. I didn’t doubt in those moments. They wanted to bury me but I always continued to believe in myself”he said.
