Serbian president formally accuses Australia’s PM of harassing Novak Djokovic

The Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, has formally accused Australia’s Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, of “harassing” Novak Djokovic for not letting him participate in the Australian Open and denying him a visa up to two times despite Judge Kelly’s decision. In a speech distributed by national media, Vucic defended the “rule of law” and wondered what would happen if it were Serbia who did not respect a judge’s decision.

“Why do you harass him and why do you live not only for him and his family, but also for the whole a nation that is free and proud?”, Vucic has criticized after the last decision of the Australian government to deport Novak Djokovic for not being vaccinated and lying in some aspects of the visa requested to participate in the Australian Open.

“We are often given the opportunity to know what the rule of law is. You can imagine what would happen if a minister in Serbia could annul the decisions of the judges, that is, valid judicial bodies,” the Serbian president defended regarding the judge’s decision Kelly which temporarily released Djokovic.

Vucic reaffirms his support for Djokovic

These words contrast with those made by the Prime Minister of Serbia, Ana Brnabic, who warned a few days ago that Djokovic could have broken the rules of his own country by not confining himself and holding several public events after having tested positive for coronavirus.
