RWE: That’s the situation at the Turkey training camp

For a few days, rumors have been circulating about the Turkey training camp of Regionalliga West leaders Rot-Weiss Essen. Now a decision has been made.

Rot-Weiss Essen has decided that the planned Turkey training camp will also be completed. Although some professional clubs, such as second division FC Schalke 04, foregoing their planned stay in Belek, RWE will travel to the Turkish Mediterranean coast.

“We are all happy that the trip can now take place and that we will have a good time in Belek,” said Jürgen Ohagen, whose travel agency is organizing the official RWE fan trip, to the participants in an email. Around 50 people from Essen will fly from Düsseldorf with the crew to Antalya on Monday, January 10th at 7:40 a.m.

RWE coach Christian Neidhart will then prepare his protégés for the remaining round of the Regionalliga West until Sunday, January 16, at the Hotel Papillon Ayscha in Belek, just under 20 kilometers from the airport. Only Kevin Holzweiler (rehab after cruciate ligament rupture) is missing. The departure from Antalya is then scheduled for Sunday evening at 5:50 p.m. During this time, the Regionalliga West league leaders are also planning two to three test matches. The opponents and kick-off times should only be announced on site.

RWE will start the Turkey training camp with a slimmed-down travel group due to the corona. For example, branch office employees and members of the supervisory board, including chairman Andre Helf, do without the Belek training camp. Club boss Marcus Uhlig will not make the trip either.

As a reminder: Also the first remaining round opponent of Rot-Weiss Essen, the Wuppertal SV, will be preparing in Belek from January 9th to 16th. On January 23rd (Sunday, 2 p.m., RevierSport-Liveticker) it comes to the summit: first against second, RWE against WSV.
