PSM Makassar’s New Coach Impressed by the Quality of the Series 4 Liga 1, but… Page all

DENPASAR, KOMPAS.com – PSM Makassar had the opportunity to play the inaugural second round of Liga 1 2021-2022 at Kompyang Sujana Stadium, Denpasar.

The stadium is one of the venues designated as the match field for the Series 4 Liga 1 2021-2022 in addition to the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Stadium.

In the 18th week match, PSM Makassar won 1-0 against Madura United.

After the match, the new coach of PSM Makassar, Joop Gall, praised the quality of the field at Kompyang Sujana Stadium.

As a coach who has been active in the Dutch and Ukrainian leagues, he said the quality of the pitch at the stadium in Denpasar is quite good.

“What I knew before was that there was only the Bali stadium, but I heard that there was also an international tournament that would be held here,” said the Dutch coach.

“So what they did to the pitch in this stadium was pretty good.”

Kompyang Sujana Stadium was indeed prepared for the U20 World Cup which was supposed to take place in 2020.

More precisely, as a training ground for the team supporting the match venue at the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium.

Even though it was only a training ground, the Denpasar Perseden stadium was allocated a renovation.

The quality of the pitch and grass is in accordance with international standards so that it leaves a good impression in the eyes of Joop Gall.

“However, this decision is very appropriate because the audience can watch the match on the pitch with good quality and on television,” said the former coach of the Dutch League team, FC Emmen.

“In addition, the quality of the field is also very good for the course of the match,” he added.

Unfortunately, a good impression on the playing field does not coincide with the readiness of other facilities. Joop Gall blamed a little on the quality of the training ground which he thought could be better.

“The quality of the pitch and grass is also quite good (on the playing field). However, the training fields continue to decrease (get worse),” he said.

Gall’s brief complaint extends the lack of infrastructure in the 2021-2022 Liga 1 4 series.

PSM is not the first team to complain about field problems.

Previously, there was Persikabo 1973 which experienced lighting problems during official training.

Laskar Padjadjaran even sent a direct protest to PT LIB.
