The famous Brazilian footballer Robinho goes to prison. The Italian Supreme Court ruled that. He has been sitting for nine years and has no choice. He can no longer appeal against this judgment.
The former assailant was convicted five years ago of mass rape of a woman in Italy in 2013. Although Robinho insisted on his innocence and appealed, a court in Milan upheld his sentence. Italy can demand its extradition, but Brazil does not extradite its citizens.
The rape took place while Robinho was playing in the AC Milan jersey. Together with five other men, they raped the then 22-year-old Albanian girl. One of his companions was also sentenced to nine years in prison and, in addition, the victims had to pay 60,000 euros (1.6 million crowns). The trial was adjourned with four other men.
Robinho also played for Manchester City and Real Madrid. In 2020, he signed a contract with Santos, but due to this case, one of the sponsors checked it out. Robinho also has a hundred national team starts.
