Bordeaux: the LFP, furious Lopes!

As we indicated to you this Thursday (see brief 8h24), the match between Bordeaux and Marseille, scheduled for Friday at the opening of the 20th day of Ligue 1, remains maintained with “only” 8 positive players for Covid-19 among the Girondins while the Professional Football League has set the course at 11 to postpone a meeting. Present at a press conference, Bordeaux technical director Admar Lopes criticized a lack of respect!

“Today, there are 8 players unavailable because of the Covid. But we also have 6 who resumed yesterday and who are still positive. This means that for the League, in relation to the protocol, we only have 8 players concerned . But for us, there are 6 more, who are not able to play 90 minutes in a Ligue 1 match according to our medical staff. Anger? Yes. I am angry because for three weeks, we had 21 positive players. I think it is not normal to have played the match in Brest (0-3), it is not normal to have to prepare for a match of this importance (OM, editor’s note) . We had the response from the League this morning, to say that it will not be postponed. But we are still in contact with them, to explain and give our opinion on the health but also the physical condition of our players . But we still hope not to play this match. There were tests this morning, we are still awaiting the results, “said the leader of the current 17th in L1, before continuing.

“I think our club has not been respected. We do not respect the history of this meeting either because we have not lost for 44 years at home. And League protocol only speaks of a team with more 11 positive cases at the same time, but we had 21 for 3 weeks! The protocol of the League does not respect this situation, it is not planned. We are all in a situation of adaptation. the Girondins, it is necessary that the authorities, like the FFF and the LFP, also adapt. (…) If I ask for an exception? Yes. We were in contact with them, we explained our situation. Regulation, we only have 8 players, but 6 others are still positive. So we continue to discuss with the League “, commented Lopes.
