Andrés Salcedo, renowned Colombian journalist and broadcaster, has died | Soccer curiosities

This Friday the death of the renowned Colombian journalist and broadcaster Andrés Salcedo was confirmed, who marked a generation with his particular style.

The Barranquillero, owner of an unmistakable voice, was an announcer, reporter, writer, composer, presenter and narrator and began his career on Radio Guatapurí to later finish on WADO radio in New York, working in Spain, where he won the National Chronicle Award in 1969 and then, in 1970, at Deutsche Welle and TransTel in Germany, where their recognition reached the highest peak.

Salcedo earned a space in international journalism but in his country, when the Bundesliga broadcasts were almost the only window for local fans towards international football, he became a benchmark.

Famous was his ability to describe the details of what was happening on the pitch and to give the indecipherable Germans nicknames.

The Barranquillero was one of the voices in Spanish of the Telematch entertainment program and on his return to the country he worked in Bogotá and Barranquilla. This Friday Caracol Radio confirmed his death in the municipality of Puerto Colombia.
