Virgitano sport has once again shone in a new edition of the Sports Gala held at the Ciudad de Berja Theater where on Friday afternoon it was possible to enjoy a projection of the activities carried out by the Berja Sports area, exhibits of pilates, judo, tai-chi and taekwondo, interspersed with impressive acrobatic numbers from the Aribaldi Circus group.
An appointment in which the Berja Sports awards were presented, which this year has had six awards, the one for the merit of sports improvement that has gone to José Miguel Sánchez Martínez; the award for the club related to sports, Club Ciclista de Berja and the award for the monitor of the year, Mari Carmen Montes Fernández.
On the other hand, the awards for sports perseverance were given to Isabel Gallardo Torres, Mercedes Sánchez Bonilla, Paquita López Mas and Antonio Maldonado Tomillero. Mafalda Agustín Jiménez has been chosen athlete of the year and, finally, the special recognition of the Berja Sports area has been for Francisca Mateos Villegas.
The mayor of Berja, José Carlos Lupión, has indicated that “the Sports Pavilion is a first-class sports complex in which next year we will continue to invest for its expansion, because we believe that investing in sports is investing in health.”
The first mayor has revealed that in the next year 2022 the expansion of the facilities of the Municipal Sports Pavilion will be carried out, covering the two of the existing paddle tennis courts and creating a new multipurpose room and the artificial grass will also be replaced from the Salva Sevilla Soccer Field.
