The Criollos de Caguas reinforce their squad | Baseball

The Caguas Criollos added imported players Engel Beltré and Mitch Lively to their roster in the middle of the final stretch of the 2020-21 winter baseball regular season.

Beltré is an experienced ranger in the majors, while Lively is an active right-hander in the Chinese Professional Baseball League.

“Engel Beltré is an experienced ranger who had a tremendous season with the Leones del Escogido in the Dominican Republic. He is a player who is going to help us, he is a young veteran who was in the Major Leagues ”, expressed Jesús ‘Motorita’ Feliciano, general manager of the Criollos.

With the Leones del Escogido, Beltré hit .365 in 20 games with 23 hits. He played for the Texas Rangers in the Major Leagues in 2013.

For his part, Lively launched four seasons in triple-A and has experience in the Caribbean leagues of Venezuela and Mexico.

“Mitch Lively is a pitcher who gives six to seven innings, in these times with the limitations of the organizations we do not have many options. We know that we will have a chance to win when he pitches, “said Feliciano.

The general manager explained that he is in talks with native players to activate them to the squad, ahead of the closing of the regular phase and the start of the postseason.
