The military will revolutionize sports guidance by building the infrastructure for sports facilities and satisfy the demands of sports enthusiasts so that all citizens can enjoy sports close to their daily lives, thereby increasing the sense of experience and satisfaction of the citizens.
Geochang Sports Park, which was completed in 2009, has been fulfilling its role by hosting large-scale sports events, but it cannot meet the growing demand for sports enthusiasts and various events.
In particular, Geochang-gun Gymnasium has been outdated since 27 years have passed since its completion and was used for other purposes, such as the Corona 19 vaccination center.
The expansion of sports infrastructure is a public-elected 7th district governor’s pledge project, and a multi-purpose gym with a total floor area of 2788 m2 and 1 basement floor is being built on a 9022 m² site in Yangpyeong-ri, Geochang-eup, near the sports park, with a total construction cost of 9.8 billion won.
The new multi-purpose gymnasium is a facility that can use 8 badminton courts, 1 volleyball court, and 1 basketball court for both purposes.
The county has completed the basic plan and feasibility study from 2019, and has completed all administrative procedures such as selection of government-funded projects in 2020, purchase of land to be transferred, completion of design competition, change of military planning facilities this year, cancellation of agricultural promotion area, detailed design and construction consultation did.
The county has 18 soccer clubs, 800 people, and 2 baseball clubs, 50. The number of sports enthusiasts is the highest in the military, but in terms of facilities, there are 3 soccer fields and no baseball facilities. There were many difficulties in marketing strategies such as attracting field training and training.
Accordingly, by using the 56,820 m2 of land in the submerged area of Mureung-ri, Namhae-do, the 2nd sports town development project is being promoted to expand additional facilities such as two soccer fields for archery, one baseball field, and parking lot.
The 2nd Sports Town is currently undergoing administrative procedures such as change of use of military planning facilities and detailed excavation and investigation of buried cultural assets with a project cost of about 6 billion won.
In addition, it is easy to access as it is within 5km from the downtown area of Geochang-eup, and if the second sports town is built adjacent to Geochang-Changpo-won, you can enjoy daily sports such as soccer and baseball, and see and enjoy Iris-won, giving vitality to local residents and energizing the whole country. It is expected to revitalize the local economy by attracting competitions and field training.
Following the current 130,000 pyeong Geochang Pond Garden, the county plans to build a second 140,000 pyeong iris garden on the free site of the Hwanggang Nam River and Namsang River Environment Improvement Project implemented by the Busan Regional Office of Land Management.
The 2nd Iris Garden will be equipped with 36 holes of Park Golf Course, 3 soccer fields, and 2 futsal fields with the plan to expand residents’ convenience facilities such as a park golf course where you can enjoy health promotion along with an eco-friendly waterside ecological park.
The county is building sports facilities for the elderly one after another to keep pace with the aging population. As of the end of November, there were 17,482 elderly people aged 65 and over. It accounts for 28.6% of the total population of the county, and the proportion is increasing every year.
Accordingly, the county built all-weather gateball fields in five regions (Shinwon, Jusang, Wicheon, Namha, Geochang-eup) to promote the health of the elderly for three years from 2019.
In addition, in October, the Gajo ground and park golf project with 9 holes of park golf and one artificial ground golf were completed on 29,000 square meters of the old Gajo IC idle site.
It has been 10 years since Geochang Sports Park was completed, and facilities including the sports complex are aging, and there is a demand for expansion of all-weather sports facilities that can be used in all four seasons depending on conditions such as climate change.
To this end, in April, we completed the replacement of natural turf in the sports complex and attracted training teams such as Suwon FC.
The project to replace the aging electronic sign board in the sports complex is planned to be completed by December by securing 500 million won in the provincial budget as a financial suggestion project in Gyeongnam Province.
In particular, as the 2022 sports fund project, an aging track and spectator seat replacement project for the sports park complex was selected, securing a total project cost of 1.6 billion won, including 468 million won in the fund.
