Ezekiel Elliott Returns to Dallas Cowboys After New England Stint

After a brief exile in New England last season, Ezekiell Elliott is “coming home” ahead of the upcoming NFL campaign.

According to ESPN and the NFL, the popular running back has accepted a one-year offer from the Dallas Cowboys, the team with which he began his career after being selected fourth overall in the 2016 draft.

After the departure of Tony Pollard to the Tennessee Titans, the Cowboys wanted to add depth at the position and Elliott’s agent, Rocky Arceneaux, confirmed he had been in discussions with Dallas for a few weeks now.

The Cowboys did not select a running back in the last draft. Elliott, thus, will join the committee already in place of Rico Dowdle, Royce Freeman and Deuce Vaughn.

Elliott, who will turn 29 this summer, was sacrificed for salary reasons by the Cowboys before ending up for a season with the Patriots. He finished his stay with three touchdowns and 642 rushing yards.

From 2016 to 2022, with the Cowboys, “Zeke” accumulated 8,262 yards in addition to participating in three Pro Bowls. He led the NFL in yards in 2016 and 2018, becoming a crowd favorite in Arlington.
