Chess, cycling, futsal, table tennis or basketball, make up the offer of the sports program for these Christmas holidays. After the suspension of activities last year due to the pandemic, the traditional Turkey Race and the New Year’s Eve Popular Race return.
The mayor of Segovia, Clara Luquero, and the Councilor for Sports, Marian Rueda, have presented the sports programming for this Christmas, which includes up to 17 activities for children and adults. After a year marked by the suspension or postponement of many sporting events, the program highlights the return of two classics: the traditional Carrera del Pavo, which this year will celebrate its 85th edition, organized by the 53X13 Cycling Club; and the City of Segovia 2021 New Year’s Eve Popular Race, organized by the IMD.
Chess lovers will enjoy the XXXVII UNED Christmas Chess Tournament for Senior, organized by the UNED Chess Club. The program is also designed for our elders. Thus, on December 17, from 10:30 to 12:30, in the Pedro Delgado Pavilion the “Physical Activity for the elderly” will take place.
Cycling will be the protagonist on Saturday, December 18. In the Plaza del Azoguejo, the XI Children’s Cycling Gymkana. On December 22 it is volleyball’s turn at the María Martín Pavilion, which will host the “Fifth Minivoley Christmas Tournament”. And on December 23, the Pedro Delgado Sports Pavilion will host the “VI NaviBal Handball Party”Organized by the Nava Handball Club.
On Christmas Day the Turkey Race. It will be the 85th edition of the race, after the forced suspension last year, and it will start from Plaza Día Sanz. On December 26 at the Enrique Serichol Pavilion will take place the “Christmas Tournament of Table tennis. XVIII Ildefonso Martín Rodríguez Memorial ”and the“ IV Badminton Christmas Tournament “Ciudad de Segovia”. It will be at the Agustín Fernández Pavilion.
Futsal has an appointment from December 27 to January 4. The Agustín Fernández pavilion will host the “XXI Memorial Félix Martín El Botas”Of Futsal. Basketball also has a place in the programming. The stage will be the María Martín Pavilion, with the proposal “Encesta con Futuro Vivo”, in an activity organized by the NGO Amigos de Futuro Vivo in collaboration with CBS.
The sport of athletics will also be present, with the “End of the Year Popular Race City of Segovia 2021 ”, from 10:30 am for the little ones, in the Sports City of La Albuera. In the afternoon, through the streets of Segovia, the test for adults will take place. The race is organized by IMD Segovia.
The Christmas sports program closes on January 8, 2022. From 9:00 am in the Pedro Delgado Pavilion the “Antonio Ibañes” futsal tournament organized by CD Segosala.
