Red Devils Win 1-0 Through Ronaldo’s Penalty

The Norwich City vs Manchester United match has been completed in the 16th week of the Premier League. The Red Devils won 1-0 through Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty.

Competing at Carrow Road Stadium, Norwich, Sunday (12/12/2021) early morning WIB, Manchester United had difficulty facing Norwich City. The first half even finished 0-0.

In the second half, MU finally broke the egg. Ronaldo scored a goal through a penalty, after being violated by Max Aarons. The 1-0 score lasted until the game broke up.

The victory makes United back to fifth in the Premier League standings with 27 points, equal to West Ham United, but the Hammers will only play tomorrow. While Norwich remain at the bottom of the standings with just collected 10 points.

The course of the match

MU made trouble since the first minute. New opportunities can be presented by Ralf Rangnick’s troops after 30 minutes of play.

In the 32nd minute, Diogo Dalot fired a shot, which Tim Krul was still able to secure. Five minutes later, Ronaldo also failed to maximize a golden opportunity.

Receiving a through ball to the right, Ronaldo outwit two Norwich players, before releasing a left-footed shot. The ball can be pushed over by Krul.

Norwich can also threaten in the 40th minute. Lukas Rupp’s header can still be secured by David De Gea.

Then, United could threaten again through Harry Maguire’s header in the 45th minute, utilizing Jadon Sancho’s bait. However, the ball can be caught by Krul. Until halftime, the score was 0-0.

The second half rolled, Norwich appear more pressing. Two minutes after the break, Przemyslaw Placheta threatened De Gea’s goal with a left-footed shot, but it was blocked.

Norwich’s best chance came in the 57th minute. Teemu Pukki almost broke into the MU goal with a left foot kick, if only De Gea had not pushed over.

MU replied four minutes later. Through a quick counter-attack, Marcus Rashford fired a right footed shot, but the ball was still thin sideways from the Norwich goal.

Goal! Manchester United received a penalty, after Ronaldo was violated by Max Aarons. Ronaldo advanced to be the executor, and was able to beat Tim Krul. Score 1-0 for the visitors.

Left behind to make Norwich appear all out. Several opportunities were presented by Dean Smith’s team, but they did not come to fruition.

One of them is the Billy Gilmour opportunity. In the 82nd minute, the young midfielder opened fire in a free position, but was blocked by the United back row.

In the remaining time of the game, several opportunities were created by both teams. Ronaldo almost doubled the score in the 86th minute through a counter-attack scheme, but failed after his shot deviated.

Meanwhile in the Norwich camp, opportunities were obtained in injury time. Ozan Kabak heads a free-kick towards the post near the right, but De Gea can still parry it. Until the game broke up, the score 1-0 for Manchester United’s victory over Norwich lasted.
