Power Mayor of Manizales plays at home in the Superior Women’s Basketball League

The best of Colombian women’s basketball will arrive today and tomorrow at the Mayor Jorge Arango Uribe Coliseum. At 8:00 pm, Power Mayoralty of Manizales will receive Hormigas de Santander at the start of the third phase of the Superior Women’s Basketball League, a contest sponsored by the Ministry of Sports.

They will play three games out of five and the one with three first victories will go to the semifinals.

Power, founding partner of the tournament, directed by Juan Quintero and Claudia Santa, is made up of players from all over the country. The roster is headed by Laura Vanessa Echeverry, Mariana Marín and Valentina Ordoñez from Calde (see Box The team).

“This time has helped us to improve, to correct. We try to put together a good group,” said Claudia Santa, who explained that the Coliseum is entered with biosecurity elements.

On Hormigas, a team with which he has not played this season, he said: “It is a young group, reinforced by two foreigners, a Mexican and a Cuban, both very effective.”

The base of the team that starts the matches is made up of: Hellary De los Santos,
Yamile Rodríguez, Mariana Díaz, Carolina Aguirre, Laura Echeverry and Camila Zámora.

The first and second phases were played in Medellín, the third will be roundtrip, and both the semifinals and the finals will be in Bucaramanga.

The entrance to the Colosseum has no cost, however, the organizers ask for a collaboration to cover the operation of the team.
