Cabaña reappears as national runner-up

Extremadura judocas got two podiums in the Absolute Spanish Championship held in Madrid with the silver of Cristina Cabaña and the bronze of Pablo Sánchez. Cristina Cabaña reappeared after her injury in what was her first competition after the Olympic Games. The judoka from Mérida was proclaimed runner-up in Spain at -63 kg. Cristina Cabaña could not in the final with the Galician Laura Vázquez. But before that he had eliminated the Basque Zurine Tardío and the Valencian Aitana Fernández and Isabel Puche. Pablo Sánchez took the bronze in -81 kg after getting rid of Giorgi Akimidze from Galicia and Álvaro Caminero from Madrid. In the semifinals he fell to the Valencian and champion Alfonso Urquiza.
