Elgoibartarra goalkeeper Hugo Sierra said goodbye to 2021 by hanging the Euskadi archery champion medal around his neck. The Elgoibarko club’s shooter Zarta Arkulari Kirol Elkartea was the best in the final that took place on December 19 in the Alava town of Amurrio, a meeting point for the best Basque goalkeepers of this season.

Sierra, who was accompanied and advised by Javier Varona throughout the competition, had to fight to win the medal. The goalkeeper from Elgoibartarra maintained a tough fight with José Ignacio Torres, representative of the Santurtzi club, and Juan Miguel López, of the Beti Ondo club, of Ermua, but in the end he climbed to the first step of the podium, although only by a point of difference. The second position went to the Santurtziarra shooter, the representative of the Ermuarra club qualifying in third position.

This title is added to those achieved by the elgoibartarra club in the Gipuzkoa League and in the Gipuzkoa Championship a few months ago. Javier Varona was the most regular in the events that make up the Gipuzkoa League calendar while the new champion of Euskadi, Hugo Sierra, managed to win the title of Gipuzkoa champion.
