Kimmih caused a great stir when he refused to be vaccinated, saying he would “wait until more is known about the vaccines”.
“I’m happy that self-isolation is over,” Kimmih, who became infected with Covid-19 a month ago, said. “I’m doing well right now, but I’m not ready to train due to minor lung damage yet.”
“I have now started working on a preferential basis so that I can return in full in January,” added Kimmih, who joined the Munich club in 2015 but extended his contract until 2025 this summer.
During this time, 26-year-old Kimmih won all the titles with the Bayern team and became a key player in the middle of the field. He is now a six-time German champion, three-time German Cup and five-time German Super Cup winner, as well as last year’s UEFA Champions League winner.
The Munich team announced some time ago that unvaccinated players who will be forced into quarantine will not be paid. According to respectable publications, Bild and Kicker reported that the decision to vaccinate was made by Kimmich’s teammates Jamal Musiala and Serge Njabri.
