Yonhap to host annual badminton tournament for multicultural families

Goyang, South Korea, Nov. 26 (Yonhap) – Yonhap News Agency, South Korea’s leading news service, will hold an annual badminton tournament for multicultural families on Saturday, with approximately 300 participants and their families residing around the country.

The 2021 National Badminton Tournament for Multicultural Families will take place on Saturday afternoon at the Goyang gym in the city north of Seoul. This year’s tournament will be co-organized by the Goyang City Sports Council.

Yonhap has organized the event since 2010, which is intended to promote harmony among families of diverse nationalities and cultural backgrounds in an increasingly diversified society.

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, the Goyang Metropolitan Government, the South Korean Institute for the Healthy Family (KIHF) and Yonhap News Television will host the event.

Notable personalities attending the event include Yonhap News Agency President and CEO Seong Ghi-hong; the Deputy Minister of Gender Equality and Family, Kim Young-seon; and Goyang Mayor Lee Jae-joon.

The company said that only people who have been fully vaccinated or who test negative for COVID-19 will be allowed to participate. Participants must also wear protective sanitary masks during matches.
