Gremio, from Borja and Campaz, set aside players in the middle of the fight for relegation | Other Soccer Leagues

The Brazilian Guild announced on Monday that it removed seven players from the squad for various reasons, including because some of the players “wanted to go on vacation early”, when the team is in full battle to avoid relegation to the Second Division .

The seven players suspended until the end of the season are: talented attacker Jean Pyerre, wingers Everton, Léo Pereira and Luiz Fernando; full-backs Léo Gomes and Guilherme Guedes; and defender Paulo Miranda.

The team from Porto Alegre, one of the most traditional clubs in Brazil and three-time champion of the Copa Libertadores, has three games left to play in the Brazilian Championship, currently occupying the eighteenth position and remaining in the First Division four points away.

The Gremio’s vice president of soccer, Denis Abrahao, explained in a heated press conference that “almost all” those players who will not wear the Tricolor Gaúcho shirt again this year “are thinking elsewhere.”

In this way, coach Vágner Mancini will keep a squad of 25 players for the last three games of the League, in which they will try to “get out of the hellish zone” in which the club is. The manager revealed that Luiz Fernando and Everton “wanted to go on vacation”, while de Léo Gomes said that “he has not played football for two years due to injury.”

Regarding Léo Pereira, on loan from Ituano, he anticipated that “he is not from the Guild and will not stay” in the team for next season. “Pablo Miranda is not in the plans for next year. Guedes is injured and is going to undergo treatment, and Pyerre is not related and does not want to play. He is uncomfortable,” concluded Abrahao.

The vice president confessed that it was he who decided to remove those seven players, a decision that the technical commission has supported and that has not encountered resistance within the locker room, as he told reporters. He also stressed the need to work with “fewer people and more concentrated between now and the last game.”

“We hope that, in the three remaining games, the players will play with the face of the Guild. What is the face of the Guild? Be competitive, cupbearers, brave, with soul …”, he listed. “Now it’s kill or die. Enough of anguish. Either you win or you’re out. I hope this club’s shirt is honored, that’s what I hope,” he said.
